Henrietta M. Akins, 80, of Etowah, died Saturday night, June 6, 2009, at Life Care Center of Athens.

A native of Henderson, N.C., and a resident of Etowah for 59 years., she was a member of Brookhill Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Corbin Akins; and one daughter, Nita Williams.

Survivors include one daughter, Connie Akins of Etowah; one son, Terry Akins of Athens; three grandchildren and two spouses, Mark and Deanna Williams, Melissa and Scott Givens and Tosha Gay; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Monday in the South Chapel of Bordwine Funeral Home with the Rev. Martin Bowlin officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Center Presbyterian Cemetery in Tellico Plains.
