Juanita Dodson McMahan

She was born in Athens, on Nov. 30, 1920, and was preceded in death by her parents, William Hilton and Minnie Allen Dodson; her husband, Kenneth Fox McMahan; one brother and sister-in-law, J.O. and Jean Dodson. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of Church Street United Methodist Church for 63 years and dearly loved her Murphy Builders Sunday School Class and church family. After graduating from Tennessee Wesleyan College and the University of Tennessee, she was a home economics teacher in the Knoxville area for 33 years and retired while at Holston High School. She enjoyed her retirement years, traveling the world with dear friends and enjoying her family at home.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda McMahan Thomas and Mary Ann Wilkins; two sons-in-law, James R. Thomas and Jeffry G. Wilkins; and three grandsons, Matt Thomas, Jared Wilkins and Lucas Wilkins.
A special thanks to the staff at NHC Holston Health Care for their compassion and loving care.
A special service celebrating her life will be 7 p.m. Thursday at Church Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cabel Trent, Dr. Charles Wender and Associate Pastor Jerry Hyder officiating. Graveside services will be 10:45 a.m. Friday at Middlecreek Cemetery in Sevierville.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to the Church Street United Methodist Church Altar Guild, Sterchi Lodge fund, Rejoice TV or Riverview Baptist Church, who faithfully provide Sunday morning worship services and other special programs for the residents at NHC Holston Health Care.
