Robber arrested

A local man is in custody in Monroe County and charged with committing one armed robbery in Madisonville and two others in Athens earlier this month.

Looking young leads to arrests
A question about a driver's age led to a pair of drug arrests Saturday evening.
At around 6 p.m. Saturday, a woman flagged down Athens Police Department Officer Matthew Norfleet and told him that the woman following her in a pickup truck "appeared to be too young to operate a vehicle."

TSSAA softens rules for 'pads'
MURFREESBORO - With the focus on acclimating players to the summer heat, the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) approved a rules change during the June Board of Control meeting that will permit teams to begin practice with shoulder pads a week earlier than former guidelines would have allowed.
